Abstract
The taxonomy of Angelonia (Scrophulariaceae) is revised. Twenty six species are described, three of which are new. The descriptions are accompanied by illustrations, photographs, distribution maps, and lists of specimens studied. A key to species is provided. Two species formerly included in the genus are excluded. The species are grouped into three sections based on morphology of the corolla and capsule. One section is new.^ Angelonia is defined by a bisaccate corolla tube, an ornamented median lobe, and seeds with a deeply reticulate, hyaline exotesta. It is classified in the subfamily Scrophularioideae, tribe Hemimerideae. It is closely related to Basistemon and possibly the tribe Calceolareae. Any close relationship between Angelonia and Alonsoa is rejected. ^
