Abstract

E. M. Forster was a British author in the early 20th century. He was heavily influenced by the women in his life, and this influence is reflected in the women characters of his novels--especially A Room with a View, Howards End, and A Passage to India. But, he only wrote women two ways, either as the bright, young thing, or the wise, older woman. The one character to surpass this was Margaret Schlegel of Howards End.
